According to the Local Coordination Committees in Syria, the number of documented demonstrations that took place on Friday, June 29, 2012 reached 664.
The largest number of demonstrations was in Hama, with 170 demonstrations, followed by Aleppo, with 100 demonstrations. In Daraa, which has been under continuous shelling and intense campaigns of raids and arbitrary arrests for the past week, activists defied the regime forces’ suppression and took the streets in 80 demonstrations. Meanwhile, in Idlib there were 60 demonstrations, and in Damascus Suburbs, where the regime’s forces carried out violent military
campaigns and committed heinous massacres that claimed the lives of many children and women, 55 demonstrations took place in defiance of the regime and its barbaric practices. In Damascus, despite the heavy
deployment of security forces all over the city, the capital city witnessed 53 demonstrations. Meanwhile, in Deir Ezzor, despite the continuous heavy shelling that has lasted for days, there were 41 demonstrations. As for the rest of the provinces, there were 31 demonstrations in Lattakia, 28 in Homs, 26 in Hasake, 15 in Raqqa, 4 in Tartous, and one in Sweda.
