Artillery Fire at Zabadany and Madaya 6-2-2012

9 martyrs were reported, among them 2 children; there are multiple wounded; and 40 houses were destroyed as a result of artillery fire at Zabadany and Madaya. Residents are suffering a severe shortage of medical and food supplies, as well as water, and the area is totally surrounded by tanks. Communications and electricity are completely cut off. These conditions make the Zabadany area a disaster zone. Activists fear an impending massacre by the regime as revenge against the FSA. The Local Coordination Committees in Syria holds the regime responsible for any killing or wounding of civilians

The regime’s army stormed the village this morning and launched an arrest campaign. Dozens were unlawfully detained including three brothers, Ahmed, Hussam and Mohammed Jawkhaddar, Omran Khdair, Bilal Mohammed Delbany, Wajihe Dablany along with his sons Hammed. Soldiers also shoved a civilian off of a high building and destroyed garbage containers in the city. The village is completely sealed off from the outside world much like a military barracks.

Dozens are wounded as a result of bombardment campaign by security forces in Madaya targeting a building. The regime’s forces are trying to raid Zabadany and are bombing residential area amid a humanitarian crisis with medical and food shortages.

Security forces have been scanning the houses and farms in Douma for two days, from Raihan, Shifonieh, Mesraba and the surrounding farms, this campaign is predicted to reach the center of Douma

Martyrdom of activists Taher Mohammad Al-Shahneh and Mohammad Ahmad Al-Alloush by regime’s forces fire when they were gathering people and chanting “Allahu Akbar” (God is the greatest) in front of tanks.

Cyprus
26 activists imprisoned in Cyprus started a hunger strike demanding to be released after 5 months of detention after they fought with Assad thugs (shabiha) when the thugs attacked them in Cyprus. Some activists succeeded in preventing Cyprus from deporting these imprisoned activists to Syria. Authorities in Cyprus arrested several other young men for trying to break into the Syrian embassy in a protest of the massacre in Khaldieh, Homs.
