Child Aya Bakkour, 5 years, has joined the trail of hundreds of children martyrs who were killed by the bullets of the security forces and the indiscriminate shelling of the regime’s army which have been ongoing for 11 months. Aya is from Taree’ Halab (Aleppo Road) neighborhood in Hama. She was displaced from her home after the regime’s forces had stormed their neighborhood and announced through megaphones that residents will have to leave their houses. Fearing shelling, they left the family home seeking shelter but her tender soul was snatched by shrapnel while she was in her mother’s lap.
Aya is the 541st child-martyr killed by the regime since the revolution started last March. The Local Coordination Committees have documented another 540 child-martyrs, including 115 girls.
Also today, the soul of another child martyr ascended. Mustafa Ahmed Al-Omeir Al-Hariri, 15 years, was shot by a sniper while on his way to buy household supplies from the local grocer, like he always used to do. His mother got back her son’s dead body, not the dishwasher detergent and chocolate. The price of these items was his life.
