Statement Regarding the Kindapping of Lebanese Citizens in Aleppo

The gang of a regime that currently rules Syria has recently reached the stage of spreading chaos through explosions that move from town to town in the country to terrorize Syrian citizens and prevent them from participating in the Revolution of Freedom and Dignity. The regime also employs this tactic to consolidate its mandate in the country, to protect itself for as long as possible. The regime and its supporters are working day and night to find justifications for the “disorder” its main representatives have long described, both in and out of the country.

This regime has prepared itself well over the last four decades so that it might play a key role, both regionally and internationally. The regime has been supported by political partnerships with a number of ideological parties and local organizations in neighboring countries. In fact, the regime has used these partnerships as cards, to be played as needed in political and security battles. Today, the regime is working hard to find excuses for certain parties to sow chaos in their own countries in order to shuffle the political cards and export the regime’s crisis.

The recent kidnappings of Lebanese citizens in northern Aleppo come in the context of escalating sectarian sensitivities to ignite sectarian conflicts in the region. This potential chaos could provide the regime with a rare opportunity to present itself to the world as the fireman capable of extinguishing the fire in the region.

We in the Local Coordination Committees condemn this recent incident and stress our belief that this act has no place among the high values of Revolution, nor to its national and human responsibility, nor to its political platform. To our brothers in Lebanon, we stress the importance of warding off the consequences of this fabricated incident, and hope they close the door to any desire for revenge by the families of the kidnapped – a desire that the regime is hoping to stimulate. We warn other regional nations of the disastrous consequences of rewarding the regime again for its work in blackmailing the governments of these countries and threatening their national security and the unity of our communities.
