The Great Syrian Mother

It is most painful for us on this day, to be unable to congratulate our mothers, the Syrian mothers, with the usual greeting words. The face of our great mother, our Syria, is smeared with the reflection of the colorlessness of a murderer’s face, and the redness of the bloodied victim’s face. Her beautiful and glorious face was violated, torn and distorted by cahoots of murderers. A full year, during which those murderers systematically assassinated, violated and tortured the youths of Syria, our wealth of the present and the future.

Our mothers! Mothers of the martyrs, wounded, missing and the absconded, mothers of the noblest generation that Syria has ever known in present history. Our beautiful mothers, the bereaved with patience, glory, dignity and sacrifice, our mothers, the martyrs, the saviors, who give in life and death. The mothers of the revolution of freedom and dignity, and its heart and soul, women of paradise, women of grace, compassion, glory, forgiveness, mercy and tolerance. We stand in your day today humbled before you, to glorify the nobility of your offerings, the generosity of your sacrifices, and the deepness of your sadness

Syrian women! Syrian men! Hundreds of free Syrian women sacrificed their lives, freedom, safety, haven, and children to pave the glorious road to freedom. The regime’s felons stole the lives of many of these pure women to quench their blood thirst; they violated the sanctity of women’s bodies to satisfy their animalistic instincts. Today, you ought to, we, each one of us, relish the motherly instinct and compassion, and understand the encouraging, open-hearted and peaceful spirit of motherhood. This motherly spirit that enlightens us, and inspires us to endure the hardship and resist violence, vengeance, and overcome conflicts that tear one’s heart, and the hearts of the sons and daughters of the same homeland.

Our Syria, home to the executer and the victim, demands these moments of us, moments of patience, tolerance and forgiveness, moments of true motherhood. If we pause for a thought to reflect, and turn to our mothers, the origin of all life, we will then remember and return to the origin of our revolution, and its pillars of peacefulness and justice.

Glory to Syria’s women martyrs, and tributes to all the mothers of the martyrs, wounded, missing and absconded.

Pride and dignity to all the free women that have been oppressed and mistreated

Long live our great mother Syria,
