Zabadany’s Statement number 11

Incidents of gunfire targeting residents of Zabadani have intensified in recent hours. Residents are being attacked by locals allied with government-supported gangs, what have come to be known as Shabiha. These locals have sided with the gangs of Maher Al-Asad and Asef Shawkat to oppress their own people.

In the name of Zabadany’s revolutionaries, we hereby affirm that we will continue on our peaceful path. We will not treat those locals the way they are treating us and we will continue to call upon them to repent. We will continue to remind them that we are their family and that the regime will go away but we will remain. We ask them to choose wisely. History does not forgive.

We wonder, didn’t their eyes blink when they saw that video of Shabiha in Bab Amr (Homs) beating up an old helpless man? Didn’t their human feelings stir, let alone national and religious obligations, when they saw the women of Jisr-Alshughur weeping for their husbands, children and violated honor?

In the name of Zabadany’s revolutionaries, we hereby confirm that we are not, in any way, shape, or form, behind the latest incidents of gunfire that led to the deaths of some residents. We have consistently emphasized that our revolution is peaceful and it shall remain so. We hold the regime responsible for the latest incidents of violence and for every innocent drop of blood that was spilled. We also do not bear any responsibility for the acts of vandalization of public and private property in Zabadany. According to numerous testimonies, the regime is the one vandalizing property in order to sow discord and provide an excuse for the army to enter Zabadany to “restore order”.

May God’s blessings be unto all of Syria’s freedom martyrs
